The staff and residents at Oak Pointe of Warrenton are in a celebratory mood after their community recently received a superior inspection rating from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
“It’s a great accomplishment for the staff and residents to be found deficiency free on an inspection,” said Stephanie Horn, executive director of Oak Pointe. “It means we are providing exceptional care to our residents and are fulfilling our mission to be the best place a senior adult has ever lived.”
The DHSS determined Oak Pointe to be in ‘substantial compliance’ with state and federal rules and regulations in all areas of service, including resident care, nursing, fire safety, housekeeping and dietary departments.
As part of the inspection process, the DHSS survey team reviewed the assisted living and memory care community’s previous compliance history, to include complaint investigations. The team conducted an unannounced visit to Oak Pointe to evaluate resident quality of care and quality of life, environmental services, dietary services, and fire safety.
The inspection process involved observations, and interviews with residents, residents’ family members and staff; and record review of documentation.
It’s been one year since Oak Pointe transitioned from an independent living home to a licensed assisted living and memory care community, and the change has been extremely well received by residents.
As part of the transition, the community implemented new personalized care services including medication administration and reminders; assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming; escort to, from meals and activities, and scheduled well-being checks.
Additionally, the entire staff was provided specialized dementia training to work with Oak Pointe’s dementia enrichment program, which utilizes therapeutic activities such as art projects, conversational events and interactions with pet companions.
